EMA submitted, feeling frivolous Empty EMA submitted, feeling frivolous

I sent in my EMA today and realised I had a mix of feelings about it so decided to write a sort-of poem.

My Emma

Fly, my Emma, fly away
Into limbo, castaway.
I’ve known my Emma for many a week
But now our future’s very bleak.

Such a relief to see her go.
What to do now? I just don’t know.
I file her clone in the ’63 file
Put her away with a contented smile

But wait, a thought, a change to make?
Was it all a big mistake?
Is she not the one for me?
Could another better be?

Panic, open up the file
Gaze at her finely honed profile
‘Leave my Emma as she is
Don’t get in to such a ‘tiz.’

We have spent much time together
Sailed on through much stormy weather
Now apart, she has just left
Leaving me to feel bereft

One day, I wish, she will return
This is what I hope and yearn.
Boxes ticked and full of mark
Fly my Emma, my little lark.

Emma's going to do you proud, Richard :-) Good luck, and I look forward to you telling us about that richly deserved distinction.

Good luck Richard. My albatross is yet to fly. Will be kicking it off the boat today so we'll see what happens.
